Love. Death. Truth.
SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE, a provocative new musical by Michael John LaChiusa, is based on a series of short stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. In KESA/MORITO, we see two lovers struggling to reconcile their forbidden passion. In R SHOMON, we hear four eye witnesses recount a murder four entirely different ways. And in GLORYDAY, we see a Priest denounce religion, only to find himself the center of a lie that becomes the truth.
Hailed by the Wall Street Journal as, "... a little power house of a show whose sheer intensity will knock you flat-and make you think.  LaChiusa's stagecraft is sure, and his edgy, pop-flavored score commandingly individual.  He is thinking hard about the future of the post-Sondeim musical, and in SEE WHAT I WANNA SEE he has gone a long way toward showing us what it will look like."
